New roots in Amsterdam: a beginners guide to small-scale farming

“New roots in Amsterdam: a beginners guide to small-scale farming" is returning to Amsterdam West in 2026! This year, in addition to the full 6 module course, there will also be a weekend intensive course option. Both are designed for those interested in learning how to approach and practice agroecological small scale farming. In both courses, the participants will explore key topics such as permaculture and regenerative agriculture principles, design, soil health, crop rotation and care, organic pest management and farming within the community.

Practical, hands-on farming sessions at the PLUK Community Supported Agriculture farm will complement theory, allowing the participants to apply their knowledge in real-world farming scenarios. Ideal for beginners (who want to learn new skills for their own urban environment) or those who would like to become small-scale farmers, this course offers the tools and skills necessary to start and maintain resilient garden or farming systems.
